Compass Award

COMPASS is an OPWDD (formerly OMRDD) initiative that supports and recognizes agencies that have progressed beyond standard regulatory compliance, and have achieved excellence in service delivery. COMPASS - an acronym for Consumerism, Outcomes, Management Plan, and Agency Self-Survey – recognizes agencies which ensure the people they serve are included in decision making, planning and management of their programs with an emphasis on empowerment and consumer satisfaction. To date, of more than 750 provider agencies in New York State, only seven (less than 1%) have acquired this prestigious COMPASS status.

Former OMRDD Commissioner Thomas Maul bestowed the coveted award on Women's League in a remarkable ceremony back in 2001. Since then, the agency continues to be recognized for its exceptional quality of care, consumer satisfaction, low staff turnover rate and the "Best Practices" which it generously shares with other agencies in the field.
