On
a cool autumn day in 1978, seven young men ended years of rejection,
institutionalization, and uncertainty, by rejoining the community
of their birth. A home for men with mental retardation had been built,
and these seven men were its first residents. This was the beginning
of Women's League Community Residences.
Today, under the leadership of the agency's founder and executive
director, Jeanne Warman, herself a parent of a child with developmental
disabilities, Women's League Community Residences. Inc. has
grown into a life span social services organization.
With over twenty residential programs, Jumpstart Early Intervention,
case management, Medicaid Waiver, and supported employment services,
Women's League touches the lives of countless children and
adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities and
their families.
Through these programs. Women's League Community Residences, Inc.,
continues to further its original mission of promoting respect, acceptance,
and inclusion for all members of the community.
